Getting Excited for Christmas!

N points at each snowman's and penguin's nose as she goes around the house these past few days and occasionally touches her nose afterwards. It's pretty cute.
And yes, she still goes for the camera whenever she gets a chance!
This is N 'laying claim' to presents that are not hers. She's been really good about the presents that are out; probably because she hasn't figured out that whole unwrapping thing yet. Although, this pink velour jumpsuit is an early gift from G'ma.
That is sure to change this coming week!
She is doing even better with her new processors. We've been trying to not use her pilot caps but the processors kept falling off her ears and would hang by the magnet. Yes, she could still 'hear' this way but its better for localizing if they are on her ears. We are trying out a different double sided tape with some luck if we can keep her hair out of the way.

N can hear!

N got activated just before Thanksgiving. She's doing really well with adjusting to everything. A few things have freaked her out a bit but overall she's doing great! She has an audiology appointment every two weeks for the time being to re 'map' her processors. The re'mapping' will be on going but the appointments will gradually space further and further apart. She is babbling with more sounds everyday.
These pics are from us attempting to get a decent pic of her in her Christmas dress for our holiday cards. Between goofing around, processors falling off her ears and breaking in new molars we settled on a pic from the next post down.

It's been so long!

Here are some pics playing around outside. These are from between the surgery and being activated, thus no hearing devices.

N got this jacket actually as a baby shower gift from a friend of who does the embroidery...see you guessed the size perfectly! This has pretty much been her fall jacket.

This cute pic ended up on our christmas card this year.

Surgery and Halloween!

N's surgery went as expected last Wednesday. The few hours spent in the Same Day Surgery after the recovery room were a little rough but we were able to take her home that night.

The next morning she was a puffy eyed version of her usual self. By Friday, she was in full N mode with the exception of an extra nap because she was cranky. Now though we think the crankiness was actually because she has another tooth on the bottom. Right now her head is healing. She has no hearing devices. She has a follow up on the 9th with the surgeon. Then on the 20th she will get her external processors and be activated.

Now on to the fun stuff....Halloween!!!

First night away from Mommy and Daddy!

N spent her first night away from us last weekend. She stayed with Gma and Gpa while went made a 'quick' trip to Minneapolis. She was a trooper and was GREAT for them.
Cousin C spent the night the following night. The girls got some together time without the boys.
N also showed us a trick in the car on the way home! The socks came off (as usual) but them the toes went in. She was biting on all five of them.

Fall

N's surgery date has finally been set for October 28th. She has a hopefully uneventful pre-op appointment in the morning.

Meanwhile, N has been gearing up for Halloween. We walk up the street about every other day to check out the giant pumpkin inflatable. We played outside for a bit today, taking in the fall weather.
Holy Pumpkin! These things are heavy!
Yes, its a pumpkin hat! Love it, love it!
Isn't she so cute?!!
And of course she had to end the afternoon on her swing!

Big Birthday Bash

N had her big birthday party at Gma and Gpa's farm on Saturday! She had a giant cupcake for her 'smash cake.' Although unlike the cupcake on her actual birthday (see the post from 9-17), this time the cake survived much better.

N was lucky to have many family and friends able to join in the fun.
She got her first purse!
She got into tearing the paper and taking of bows. N received a first sounds puppy from her Godparents.
So excited!

Every girl needs a pink princess pony, right?
N was tuckered out on the ride home Sunday.....
for just a short while. Then she proceeded to play Peek-A-Boo with the blanket Cousin C made for her.
We should find out something by Friday about wether her implants are finally approved.
And....N has now walked up to 15 steps!

1 year, oh my goodness!

Being one year old meant a visit to the dr last week. N is already 24lb and almost 31 inches long. It was not a happy visit for her she got 5 shots and a fingerstick. Yikes! The trauma was cause for a second nap that day that started on the way home. She has started showing of her new birthday clothes. Too bad we didn't realize we were going to go apple picking last weekend. This outfit above would have fit right in!
We went up North to Gma and Gpa's to celebrate N's birthday. N went with to go shopping for some fall stuff and found about 100 of these monster size pumpkins!

Happy 1st Birthday!

We celebrated N's birthday with just the three of us this evening. She started off clean with her birthday cupcake.
But as you can see she dug in pretty quickly
Not to worry she only got about a third of the cupcake!
And enjoyed every second of it!
N got her very own babydoll. She started hugging it and loving on it right away.
Her big birthday bash is a week from Saturday at Gma and Gpa's farm.
We resubmitted the request for her implants today since the reason for denial was the fact that she wasn't a year old. We should find out something in about two weeks.
